Blog about Blogs

There once was a blog with a catchy little name. It had tons of meaning to the blogger on the one end but couldn’t find its place in the big world. So it just sat and sat for a year. Alone. Ignored. Starving for an entry. Then it happened! The blog writer decided to write about the one thing that had consumed the largest portion of her time since writing a PhD Thesis and Dissertation paper. Okay, that’s a lie because she did neither…but you get the point. “I just can’t do it, I just can’t!” She exclaimed with great fervor. Now her life has been forever altered and her reality is in a parallel universe of social networking and micro blogging and tweeting to her chirping heart’s content. Hello? Is anybody out there?
Hi, my name is Biz Haddock, I named my own self Biz when I was barely two, so I get dibs on the name. (FYI: Biz Stone was one of the innovators of Blogger and Twitter so hold the emails on that one) and the author of BiZ iNk? A blog about blogging. Exciting, I know. But it is here I’ll write, comment and promote blogs of interest in the subject of…blogging, social networking and micro blogging (from time to time) and share it with my readers. I’m doing this because I find myself emailing, a very outdated process, those that I have sucked into this abyss or black hole of sorts.
Blogging is the newest medium (and it’s not that new) of reaching a wider range of people that otherwise would never know anything about you or what you have to offer. Topics can be from Cat Care to Global Science and everything in between. What are your talents? What do you have to say? Maybe you are just funny and could lighten up things up for your readers, I personally subscribe to one of those myself.
Recently I joined the “31 Days to Build a Better Blog ” along with the likes of 10,000 (no lie) other blogger wannabe’s in the quest for writing better blogs. You too could easily do this, but you better hurry, we are already on day seven. Or, I can walk you through a more simplified version, going step by step, taking your newness in consideration. I like to think of it as shepherding a flock bloggernauts and I’m getting on the job training. This is where you will see my assignments and homework at work. I suppose the looming question would be, why blog? There are as many reasons as there are people and you most likely have a few yourself.

  • 1. What is your area of expertise and would you like to share it with others?
  • 2. Does having a loyal following that you can influence on your topic appeal to you?
  • 3. Does the idea of leaning from your own blogging sound interesting? Surprisingly that is what will happen when your following begins to comment. You will become the experts expert.
  • 4. Do you like writing? At this point the answer should be an obvious yes.
  • 5. Is there a creative junkie inside needing a place to plot?
  • 6. If you could make money (monetize) your writings, would you want to? More on this later…don’t quit your day job just yet.

I will try to use laymen terms and not get too techie, but there will be some stuff you just gotta know. For example: Web 2.0 which is just the newest way we utilize the internet…but this stuff comes much later, so don’t bail now.
Why am I doing this? As I said before, this will be one of the places I do my “31 Days to Build a Better Blog ” assignments and ultimately my blog on blogging, and now I’m really BiZ iNk.
